A Gallery of Amazing Irish Flowers

We went to Ireland to see gardens and gardens we did see! Today I wanted to bring you a few of our favorite flower pics taken by our group in early June. A few? Actually there are 50 photos, but I think you’ll agree that each and every one is worth a look.

We again stayed on the Colebrooke Estate, a fabulous 1000-acre property in Northern Ireland. It’s likely as close to living in Downton Abbey as us mortals will get. The place was second only to the wonderful hospitality offered by our hosts Chris, Amanda, Lara and the talented chef Joery Castel.

From the walled gardens to the varied colors of rhododendrons in full bloom, it was a feast for the eye.

We toured gardens across Northern Ireland and a few in the Republic, including the Glenarm Gardens, Florence Court Gardens, Salthill Gardens, Killyreagh Gardens, Glenveagh Castle, and of course the walled garden on the Colebrooke estate. Some are public, often owned by the National Trust. Other gardens were private. We were fortunate enough to be guided by each garden’s head gardener.

Seeing the flowers was a treat and the trip was made even more special by the people we met along the way.

Special thanks to all those who came on our Ireland trip who have shared their photos here, including Cheryl, Joe, Gypsy, Kathy, David, Jackie, Linda, Bill, Barbara, Pat, Fernando, Tristan, Don, and Meg.

We’re planning another trip to the Ashbrooke House on the Colebrooke estate next year. The theme will be food. If Irish food doesn’t strike you for its excellence, then you’ve never eaten the dishes created by Chef Joery. We’ll visit food producers, gardens, a distillery, and take cooking lessons from Joery. Use This Form to tell us your interest in this trip and we’ll let you know as soon as it goes on the website.
