Change to deposit, payment, and cancellation terms

Starting with our 2027 trips, we’ve implemented some new policies that I wanted to share and tell you why.

We have had a relatively small and refundable deposit up to now. Unfortunately, too many people would sign up if they thought at all that they might like to go and then cancel six months later. Over a third of the reservations were later cancelled.

This was a problem for us, but also for our travelers. When trips filled up, as the often do, this meant a place on the trip was blocked for other people who genuinely wanted to go.

So the deposit has been increased to $600. While it is no longer refundable, it can be applied to any other trip at any time in the following 3 years (or transferred to someone else).

On payments, we’ve tried to make it easier by making payments automatic and breaking them down into smaller installments. Of course, you can always pay more quickly or continue to send us a check, but we hope you’ll agree that this new system is easier.  If not, just email us and we’ll change the payment schedule for you.

All this is explained on the new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Page on our website. I believe it will answer any questions you have on this and much more. ‍
