Exploring Puerto Rico for possible future trips

We regularly head out into the world to explore new destinations for trips. Sometimes we love what we see and sometimes, not so much.

Last week we were in Puerto Rico and we had a wonderful time. We stayed on the beach in the northeast of the island for a few days and visited the national forest, then we cut across to the southwestern tip of the island to Cabo Rojo.

The beaches were absolutely wonderful. Very few people, warm water, and trees growing just beside the beach meant we could put a chair in the shade to read and relax. It was very civilized.

On the last night, we stayed in Old San Juan, which was equally lovely, but in different ways. The city is beautifully renovated, with each building neat and well painted. And the big Spanish fortresses give you a place to walk and enjoy the blue skies and great views over the ocean beyond.

So will we be scheduling trips to Puerto Rico soon?  Well, probably not. That is because we don’t see how any of our usual themes would work there.  You don’t need Travel Fever Tours if you just want to sit on the beach.  But we loved our time in Puerto Rico and if we can, we certainly will add the island to our destinations.
