Watercolor workshop in Sedona, Arizona

Instructor: Robert O’Brien, AWS
Join us from October 24 to 31, 2020

Sedona embodies the beauty of the high deserts of Arizona with its colorful rock formation jutting to the heavens, framed by a saturated blue sky. Sedona has long attracted artists and now you can join them for this week-long workshop with veteran watercolor instructor Robert O’Brien.

From inspirational sunrises to awe-inspiring sunsets, Sedona never disappoints the plein air painter. The red and orange sandstone mesas call out to be painted. This is why we’re always so excited about offering this artist workshop in Sedona.

Workshop instructor and mentor: Robert O’Brien, AWS

Robert has painted in watercolors for over 40 years. Since moving to Vermont in 1977, he has focused his work on landscape and architectural studies. Robert looks for beauty even in the ordinary.

Robert’s work appears in major galleries around the US and he has received many awards. He also teaches watercolor workshops on a range of subjects throughout the country. Since 1998, Robert has traveled often to Southern France where the region’s sun-splashed landscape and timeless quality of light has added a new dimension to the artist’s paintings.

This is the second Sedona workshop that Robert has led for Travel Fever Tours and we are doubly pleased to be working with him. Not only is he a thoughtful and inspiring instructor, his enthusiasm for everything he sees and does makes a workshop with Robert a whole lot of fun. One of my main objectives in watercolor painting is to create light through the use of shadow. In painting ordinary images, I find a fascinating interplay between the two. The transparency of the medium helps in bringing shadows alive while allowing the light to glow.
